One of the great treats of the sports calendar in Johannesburg, the Standard Bank King Edward VII School Easter Festival, kicks off on Thursday, April 6 and by its conclusion on Monday, April 10, a host of future sports stars will have been unearthed.
The track record of the Festival speaks for itself. Since its inception in 2002, it has produced numerous provincial and international players, a number of whom won bursaries with various sports academies by starring at the Festival.

The festival is known for its unique family flavour and is considered to be an annual pilgrimage for past pupils and friends of the school.
Senior rugby and hockey teams, as well as enthusiastic primary school teams, will showcase their sporting skills over three days.
A crucial ingredient of the festival is to provide a platform for the participating teams to play without the pressures so typical of normal seasonal fixtures.
