Burger joins the English Premiership club as the fourth new prop to move to Sandy Park since the end of last season. Burger’s signing represents a significant addition to the Chiefs’ squad. His experience at the University of Pretoria, combined with his potential for growth, makes him a valuable asset to the club. As he transitions to the English Premiership, Burger will be eager to prove himself and contribute to the Chiefs’ success.

Exeter Chiefs, known for their physicality and attacking style of play, will be hoping that Burger can add a new dimension to their front row. With his strength, mobility, and work ethic, Burger has the potential to become a key player for the club in the years to come.

The young scrummager, who captained the University of Pretoria’s Tuks Rugby team, has been signed on a short-term deal by the English Premiership side. Burger’s arrival marks a significant addition to the Chiefs’ pack, as they aim to maintain their status as one of the league’s top contenders.

“Ethan is a powerful and mobile prop with a bright future,” said Exeter Chiefs’ Director of Rugby, Rob Baxter. “We’ve been impressed by his performances at Tuks and believe he has the potential to make a real impact at this level.”

Burger himself expressed his excitement about joining the Chiefs and playing in the Premiership. “It’s a dream come true to be part of such an amazing club,” he said. “Exeter Chiefs have a fantastic reputation, and I’m eager to learn from the experienced players and coaches here.”

Tuks coach Dewey Swartbooi praised Burger’s leadership and playing ability: “Ethan was undoubtedly the team’s backbone on and off the field with how he played and led from the front as captain. Considering that we played in the Varsity Shield, I see it as a feather in the cap of Tuks rugby that he had been signed by an international team. Kudos to him. Ethan has proved anything is possible.”

The 24-year-old’s signing comes at a time when the Chiefs are looking to strengthen their front row. Baxter has also brought in Will Goodrick-Clarke, Jimmy Roots, and Kwenzo Blose to bolster his pack.

With Burger’s arrival, the Chiefs have added another talented and promising player to their squad. His experience in South Africa and his natural athleticism make him a valuable asset to the team. As he settles into his new surroundings, fans will be eager to see how he performs in the English Premiership.
