Gary Kirsten Cricket Academy in Cape Town is set to help the Bangladesh Cricket team prepare for their upcoming Test series against South Africa.
As reported on Cricbuzz Bangladesh Cricket Board chief executive officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury said both their red ball and white ball teams will travel together to prepare for the series.
“In the past red ball and white-ball cricketers used to travel separately for an overseas tour but now due to Covid-19 we are sending all the players together to South Africa,” explained Nizamuddin.
“So we are thinking of sending the Test squad members to the academy when we will be busy playing the ODIs. After the ODIs all the members will join together to prepare for the Test series,” he added.
The Gary Kirsten Academy provides private cricket coaching for individual cricketers, teams and coaches of various ages and experience levels.
Created by the iconic cricketing legend Gary Kirsten. This institution is one of the finest academies both locally and abroad.
This is not the first time Bangladesh Cricket has worked with Kirsten. In 2018, they had appointed him as their consultant to help them find a new coach.
The tour will consist of a three-match, Betway One-Day International and two-match, Betway Test series across four venues from 18 March to 12 April 2022.
SuperSport Park will host two of the ODI matches, with the third taken by the Imperial Wanderers, while the coastal cities of Durban and Gqeberha will take on the Test fixtures.
The tour is of great significance for the hosts, as both series count for vital points in the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League and the ICC World Test Championship.
